Books turned into movies

There are rare occasions, but it's almost always this way.

I agree, at least for literary fiction which you just cannot cram into a 2 to 3 hour movie. Schlock is a lot easier to film and keep in tune with the original written work.

There’s some good tv shows that were based off books like Fleishman is in Trouble.

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Both book and movie are touching and wonderful.

The Ice Storm. Book by Rick Moody is a lot different from the movie. I liked both and it was introduced to see how they differed.

The Best of Everything. 1950s girls at work in New York City. Both book and movie are soap opera good.

Wonder Boys by Michael Chabon. Read book ('95) then saw movie ('00). Perfectly cast!

Big Little Lies. Loved the book and the show was super popular (Zoe Kravitz, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Linney, Nicole Kidman)

Yes I agree with you, but Fleishman is in Trouble is not literary fiction. It is popular fiction.

White Oleander-literary fiction, what a book! The movie actually did not disappoint.

Agree with White Oleander. Also Cold Mountain, Luckiest Girl Alive, and Lessons in Chemistry.

I actually quite liked the David Copperfield with Dev Patel.

Want a huge science fiction series? Try The Expanse.

Nine books and roughly nine novellas/short stories. The book authors were heavily involved in the show.

The show only goes up to the sixth book, but that's a natural break point in the story.
