There's no market for those homes. Builders don't want to touch it. |
appeals court reversed themselves. MM illegal again |
Oh no! There goes my dream of owning a $1.8 million duplex. |
I can’t imagine any developer in their right mind bothering with this now after it has been reversed and stopped so many times at this point. I also don’t see the appeal for buyers to rent a one bedroom apartment in some place like CC Hill with no walkability or amenities or to buy a townhouse for more money than a townhouse in somewhere like Lyon village. Add to that the uncertainty in the tariff situation and it’s pretty much DOA. |
I have lived in Arlington for 25 years. I have never seen so many houses sitting for sale for so long. I saw an under contract the other day and got excited. Seems like no one is buying or even renting the $6500 places. |
PG is cheap they can live there |
Agreed. I would be thrilled if duplexes or 3 row townhouses could be built everywhere- we already have these in Arlington and people would buy them. The 4-6 plexes were a greedy overreach so well-off people could own rental buildings when we already have plenty of apartment rentals. |
That's the price range of the three sets of duplexes now on the market that were built under EHO permits. The best you can do is the 6 plex near Washington Liberty High School that is being built as a rental. There are two 2 bedrooms units and four 3 bedroom units They are two level piggy back units and similar to piggy back condos nearby. That builder sued the County to complete the project and won. |
I am thrilled that someone will pay 1.8M for a duplex in Arlington. |
Me, too. Dreading to know what houses in my neighborhood will go for. |
u Plenty of people are willing to pay more than that for a rental. I just rented my home for 7500 and it took one week with 6 showings and 4 interest. |
