1.5 week to 2 week vacation in mid August

I am a lover of summer, heat and tropical weather in general. I am warning you that Florida in August is literally hell on earth! Don’t do it!

PP again. Forgot to mention that once, my family went to Disney in August. We had torrential rains in the afternoons. When we were in MK, there was so much rain that we had to stand around with water up to our shins. And they shut down some rides because of the flooding. Not fun!

We did a 2 week trip to see all 5 California major league ballparks last summer and did one day at Disneyland. We are not Disney people, and definitely not Disney World people, but DH felt like we needed to do it for our 7 year old. Now it's been checked off the list and we spent the rest of our vacation happily doing other things.

We did a similar trip. Disneyland/LA/San Diego. Great weather, food, activities

I always had good luck with Disney midweek the week before Labor Day because most kids were back in school but we weren’t. So if you can go the week before Labor Day, show up on Monday and leave by Friday. Rain lasts about an hour and that’s a good resting time anyway. Now that my school district changed to start before Labor Day, finding less crowded vacations for kids are harder.

Disney is PAINFUL that time of year- excessive heat and thunderstorms. Some years they even cancel the fireworks b/c of the heat/fire warning.
