Crumbl gift card amounts - what’s reasonable? What’s too much?

I am guessing she is not out with her sons friend too often.

I do gift cards like this for kids birthdays all the time. It's consumable, not super expensive and easy when you know what the kids like. I think $20 is reasonable - usually I do $15-$25 depending on the age of the kid and which restaurant. you can look at their locations and website - one cookie is usually $5 and a pack of 4 is 18 or so.

My daughter's school gave out $5 gift cards to Crubml at the Halloween dance, which she won and thought she had won the lottery. We got her gift cards for Christmas - Costco has $100 for $75 (4 $25 cards) if you are looking at more.

I think it's a treat, it's like those mall snack cookies and cookie cupcakes we used to eat when I was in middle school in the 80s. I can't remember the name of the place but they sold the cookie cakes. Nothing was cooler than getting one of those (Mrs. Field's? - I think?) with friends and Crumbl is the 2025 Mrs. Fields.

Crumbl cookies are really big--like most people would not want to eat a whole one in one sitting.
There's really only a few flavors that I like (Wedding cake is amazing, and rare!) but when I do get one, I either split it with someone or I spread out eating it over two days.

A 12 year old boy isn't going to want to share one cookie. They're on the bigger side and extremely calorie dense, but nothing crazy. Like a little bit bigger than the pink frosted cookies from the grocery store.

So I just looked up the calories out of curiosity. The regular size cookies are 700-800 calories! And they are only 4-5 inches in diameter- which doesn’t sound all that big. That’s crazy amount of calories for one cookie. I wouldn’t want my kid eating this either.

This is a truly weird post. And Crumbl cookies suck.

Just give him $20. He's a 12 year old with an almond mom who has probably barely tasted sugar. Let him live a little. You're not contributing to the obesity epidemic by allowing this kid to have some over-the-top cookies on one occasion.

This. Plus Crumbl is gross

Both parents are probably what DCUM would call health nuts - always a vegetable in their breakfasts, protein in meals, asking what is inside of everything and looking at every ingredient and calories, focused adults.

They won’t actually take him if you buy the card. They are disordered eaters.

I doubt that as she seems very familiar with his interest in these. She's clearly spending time around him so go get the cookies the next time and don't buy him a gift card. He's 12? How is he supposed to get there?

If you eat those garbage cookies you are a disordered eater. Classic American gluttony

He'll take a bite or two and wonder what the hype is.

+1 and I would throw out the card too. Don't waste your money.

I am so confused by this thread and this outing to Crumbl.

OP, here is what I would do. Next time the kid is coming to your house, buy a box of 4. Cut them into quarters or halves. The kid and your son can sample all the flavors.

Even for a BIG eater, it's hard to make it through a whole Crumbl cookie. They're disgusting, overly sweet and so heavy.

No gift cards!

What a weird Birthday Gift.

"Come over to our house and I will cut cookies in 1/4 and let you sample them."

Get the giftcard OP, in whatever amount you typically spend for bday giftcards for DS' friends.
Friend can get 1 cookie, or more, and save the giftcard for a return trip. Unless he hates them. Or if his mom throws out the giftcard (like a weirdo pp stated).
