Why do this? Blocking lane at light

Anonymous
Lay on the horn and never stop. Honestly, if I could get into the other lane and had a Dunkin Donuts coffee I'd toss it at that jerk's car too.

It's the same aggressive OP who is posting repeatedly, trying to revive his or her thread. Completely off his rocker. Thankfully 99% of people are more peaceful.

I wouldn't have honked my horn or posted. I would have just rolled my eyes, sighed in frustration and then waited. I'm never in that much of a rush that 5 min is going to make a difference to me.

That said, I don't understand why people do this. Just go straight and turn around. Even if you aren't familiar with the area, all you have to do is make a couple simple turns to end up back where you need to. It would be impossible to get turned around. And it is dangerous. Because people get impatient and they want to beat the light so they quickly swerve out to the right lane without checking well and end up causing an accident.

So, do a U-turn or go around the block. More to the point, this driver thinks they’re more important than everyone else. Which is quite common if you live in the DMV.

She doesn't have to turn to accommodate you. You're not special. Just wait a minute. You'll be fine.

Ok, Karen. Calm down. I would be annoyed too but would never act like you.

Uh, she does have to follow the rules of the road. They are there to accommodate everyone AND keep people safe. People like this driver, or probably you, are endangering other people on the road and should get their license cut up.

No one is being endangered by having to wait a few extra seconds. Stop your road rage and everyone will be much safer. No one is saying that she is in the right either. But your entitlement and aggression aren’t making you any more right either.

When I lived on Conn Ave people did this frequently when turning on Nebraska. I didn’t lose my shit every day. Majority of them don’t know that’s how traffic flows because it makes zero sense. So I waited a few seconds and forgot all about it by the time I got home.

You just hate that someone else doesn't think YOU're important. Because you think about yourself as more important than others. That's what's coming out of your post, OP!

See, I don't think like that, so when someone cuts me off or holds up everyone at an intersection... I don't take it personally. I don't get mad. Life happens. It's not a big deal.

OP was in the lane that is supposed to go straight, and gets held up by an entitled person. I would definitely lay on horn. I don't think I'm more important. I think I deserve to go straight and make the light if I'm in the proper lane for it. Get over yourself.

I shake my head that anyone justifies the lane blocker.

Ok, cool story bro. People make mistakes. I take more issue with angry aholes who lay on their horn. 100% guaranteed they’ve also made a mistake.

OP, you are right that this is annoying and she should have gone straight. However, I doubt that any of the people ahead of you who just changed lanes are still stewing about this. When you get angry at something like this it stays with you longer. Start honking and you get angrier and work yourself up.

I am curious if the horn honking made her move/ go straight? I used to be a prolific horn honker for this type of thing and it rarely helped- the only times I find horn honking to change behaviors is when the person doesn't actually know that she is doing something wrong- eg about to merge into her blind spot; about to turn the wrong way down a one way street without seeing the signs. Self centered people like this woman are not going to change their ways because someone five cars back is honking. But the person next to you and any nearby pedestrians are going to hear it and be more annoyed

You're trying to reason with someone who is even more self-centered than the lane-blocker, and doesn't care about others. They're going to honk to express their feelings no matter what, and not think twice about throwing things, or getting their gun out, because they have no sense of proportion. I'm sure it was OP posting repeatedly on their own thread to try and drum up like-minded people's support. I can guarantee they've made some mistakes too, but they would never remember it or think badly about themselves for it. Different rules apply to them, but they're going to throw the rulebook at others and demand maximum punishment every time.

This is why I loathe people like OP. Self-righteousness of such magnitude is a sin. Lane-blocking, compared to OP's violent attitude, is more minor.

Most of us are the 'everyone else:' the horn honkers are the one who think they are more important.

You are an imbecile. It's not about accommodating anything or anyone. You can't just stop in the middle of the damn road whenever you feel like and cause a massive traffic jam. F you.

Then they shouldn't be driving in a city.

If new drivers shouldn’t drive in a city, how do they become experienced city drivers?

Anonymous wrote:Absolutely infuriating. God, people are so stupid in America. Not only the driver you describe, but absolute imbeciles in this thread who defend this garbage. You think the crap out of them to shame. You do not hold up traffic for an entire cycle because you're trying to turn from a straight going lane.

The a hole is either trying to cut in front of the line because they don't want to wait at the end of the left turn lane. Or they're not familiar with the area (no excuse). If you aren't familiar with an area an miss a turn, it isn't that big of a deal. You keep driving and do a U turn or go around then block. Everyone has GPS these days, you'll get re-routed. You don't stop in the middle of the damn road.

Morons in this thread.

I feel so sorry for anyone that is this angry about such a minor inconvenience. Something is not right in your life.
