He had no blood on his hands, but he profited from policies - he SET UP policies - to enrich himself by killing others. That is it, pure and simple. Be CLEAR about your moral outrage about this.

Be clear, too, that the rule of law matters. Our country is about to descend into a scary place, and it is important that the rule of law holds. You CANT just murder the bad guys. You can't. What Luigi's money and education could have done is organize to change laws that allowed a monster like his victim to profit from the suffering of sick people. He could have used his hotness to bring others to his cause.

Two things can be true at once. His victim was wvil. But is also illegal to murder. We can't condone murdering everyone who disagrees with us...ask the people of Russia how they like being ruled by a murderous despot. Might - be it a gun or a billion dollars - doesn't make right.

Should we just keep people alive for as long as possible even with no quality of life? We are all going to die, hate to break it to you. Murder is wrong.

He also has edits of him saved on his phone. I realize he's probably just joking, but this is disturbing to me. I'm not here to support the actions of healthcare CEOs, but Luigi Mangione killed a father in cold blood! We've all had phases of liking "bad boys", I suppose, but I really don't like this. What should I do?

He likes bushy eyebrows. Big whoop

Two separate issues.

1. If there weren't all these edits going around, I guarantee there wouldn't this crush. The edits make this a "thing". I really wouldn't take this as him having a crush on a murderer.
2. The whole "I can fix him" is what the issue is. Is he joking? Probably. It seems like a tongue in cheek thing especially if you've seen the edits and get the "lore" of him. But it's worth paying attention to.

Of course it's a joke.

A kid isn't "fixing" an adult.

Mom freaking out is half the fun.

What does your son’s current boyfriend or casual rel think about this?

Is he a closet gay?

Sorry, but this.

If these idiot teens moved to a place where casual violence and vigilante justice were the norm.... they would not like it, to say the least. They would be horrified and terrified and repeatedly click their heels three times to get back to the lovely world you have provided for them.

In the meantime, children violently lost their father and they think the person responsible is cool.

+1. Send him to Haiti for a week of gunfire and survival of the fittest. He can date a violent warlord “hero” who here. Might not be Ivy educated and intelligent but once you are deranged and immoral that’s what you are.

Remember when tons of grown women wanted a chance to fix this bad boy?

Your ds just thinks Luigi is good looking. I doubt he has a thing for murderers.

Idiot teens? The Capitol rioters (adult men) being pardoned as “hostages” by a felon president, and you are lecturing us on vigilante justice. The irony.

If he's being open about his Luigi Mangione crush then OP's son is very clearly not a "closet gay" ...

Why are you assuming he even has a boyfriend or relationship?

He’s a homo

The fact that he wants to “fix” him means he knows that the killing is morally wrong (he already knows it’s illegal-duh). That is a small green shoot here. I think he’s probably mostly joking, based on the phrasing here, so I would keep your cool if I were you and talk to him about the folly of trying to “fix” someone you have a romantic relationship with. Talk about situations with lower stakes like cheating, dishonesty, mistreatment, etc. Show him hot felon (the guy the PPs mentioned) to show him people who commit crimes are sometimes attractive. This is a conversation and teaching moment. It’s good that he feels comfortable sharing these kinds of complicated feelings.
