Yeah, I'm curious how lack of physical space is going to look as an exception.

NP and my friend at DHS says they will be back 50% of the time as they are remodeling their office. Maybe getting rid of asbestos or something like that, not sure. Anyways, he seems to think that's all they have space for.

But sure let's downsize the federal government and start specifically with the people protecting the US and stopping cyber security attacks (if you're a fed and ever talked to the Cyber security staff, we get hacking attempts pretty much constantly).

Just Christmas for China and Russia today huh?

Does DHS have a collective bargaining agreement?

This is all bluster for headlines.

I don't think so. At this point if you wanted to actively harm the US, you wouldn't have done much differently.

Certain groups but not everyone.

I work for a DHS agency and have not received any communication about RTO. I was expecting an email about it today and nada.

"Huffman said that in 2024, 28.9% of total hours worked the Federal Emergency Management Agency and 24.4% of total hours worked by U.S. Coast Guard personnel — a branch of the armedservices tasked with protecting our coasts — were done remotely."

Those percentages seem reasonable, especially since both of those agencies do work that requires being "remote."

Radio silence at my component so far so I'm working at home today. I know we don't have room for literally all of us to be in today or anytime soon unless you don't mind sitting on the floor. 🙃

So stupid. And I don’t work for the feds. Telework was the one good thing that came out of the pandemic.

My friend there said it doesn't cover TW amd was always management discretion. DHS is huge though, I don't know if there are separate CBAs for different components.

No one I know at several different DHS Components has heard anything about this.

Notice how he doesn’t explain why the percentages are bad. They just are.
