Department of Government Efficiency Service? It’s a department and a service?? https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/hiring-freeze/ Who wrote this? |
Someone who really wanted to call it DOGE but it can’t be a department because it would need a cabinet level position |
|
If you're on probation and underperforming, I'd start looking for a new job ASAP:

It's because people think they are awesome and will never be fired.
So they are only concerned with being able to half-a$$ it from home in their pajamas. |
This is Musk's college try at reducing the federal government and now he will make his exit once he gets his choice regs cut. Either that or he has a hard on for going right into litigation because DOGE is not a government agency or service. |
| Maybe the feds on dcum are generally the high performing employees? I'd believe it because dumber people waste their time on dumber apps, like tiktok and facebook. Whatever else you may think about dcum readers, they are good readers who aren't just watching mindless video clips. |
I don't think it's this because a) I use DCUM and TikTok!, and b) I don't think these jobs are going to be eliminated with that kind of precision. |
| They seem to be going after SES employees with some of these EOs. |
| I perform a pretty key function for industry to operage within the existing laws - with the hiring freeze it’s going to take much longer. Congrats to Elon I guess? |
What makes you say that? |
It's almost like you haven't read Project 2025. Yes, that's the goal. |
https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/restoring-accountability-for-career-senior-executives/ and this one: https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/reforming-the-federal-hiring-process-and-restoring-merit-to-government-service/ has the following paragraph: (c) This Federal Hiring Plan shall include specific agency plans to improve the allocation of Senior Executive Service positions in the Cabinet agencies, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Office of Management and Budget, the Small Business Administration, the Social Security Administration, the National Science Foundation, the Office of Personnel Management, and the General Services Administration, to best facilitate democratic leadership, as required by law, within each agency. |
+1. very bizarre. My guess is most of the people who are so focused on RTO will quit their jobs if RTO. So, RTO = their jobs eliminited. So same thing. |
🤦♀️ They are constantly finding ways to surprise us with their stupidity. |
|
The "how" of RTO is very obvious and can be implemented quickly. As a remote worker now facing a 2+ hour commute each way, I've been very concerned about this.
The "how" of eliminating encumbered jobs is less obvious. As the EOs come out (Schedule F, SES, probationary employees) I am getting a little nervous, even though I shouldn't be in any of those categories and have strong performance reviews. We just don't know how this is going to look as clearly as RTO. |
