Ski Local MLK

It was pleasant skiing, far shorter lines than whitetail, liberty, roundup day trips.

However, the hotel was $300/night which seems insane. Is that the going rate for Wisp or Blue Knob or Bear Creek, I know it’s a holiday weekend but still..

Is this typical or are we booking poorly ( I booked in November)?

Should we consider flying to say Canada for even better skiing and maybe not that much high cost??

$300/night seems insanely cheap for MLK weekend. That’s what you mean right?

That’s for just a hotel room — we aren’t renting a ski lodge — I think the best bank for buck is multiple families renting together but we have no friends, or at least none that ski

My DH took my teen son and friends to Wisp and are staying in a hotel 30 mins from the resort for $119/night.

Thanks! We are at Canaan — I didn’t want to disparage them but it’s abut run down now.

30 minute drive from slopes is definitely doable with teens — we have young kids so that would get old fast (where are my gloves mom…)

I love the skiing at Canaan but agree the hotel is a little run down - it’s owned and managed by the state park system I think. But still, you have an indoor pool, game room, large lobby, places to sit and play a board game, ice skating and restaurants all right there - so not a terrible deal with little ones. We have stayed in the cabins at Canaan which give you more room to spread out and you still get access to the pool. They are rustic but cozy, we did that a lot when our kids were little. I think the price is similar to the hotel rooms. Check out the skiing at Timberline if you want a change of scenery from Canaan. We rent a house there every President Day weekend with 2 other families.

Yes, that’s the norm.
