1 hr flight or 5 hr train ride w/10 month old?

Toddler mom here - we've been flying with my son since he was 2 months old. No doubt that security is a pain and door to door will probably be comparable, but I think the fact that the flight itself is short is key. For my son, one hour in a really confined space is much better than 5 hours in a sort of confined space. We've had delays at the airport and coped by letting him roam around - there's lots to see. If you're concerned about getting through security at the airport by yourself with the baby, talk to your airline and see if you might be able to get a pass for a friend to take you to the gate. Southwest did this for me and it was really helpful.

Also, I'd be surprised if the train is that much cheaper. It seems Amtrak rates have really gone up.

I have to say, I'm confused by 19:38 too. I am pregnant with multiples and have been planning to take the train to see family in NYC once the babies are born. Granted, NYC is closer than New Haven - but I've always found train travel to have fewer hassles than flying. Plus the other PPs are right, New Haven is not near an airport.

I know! I'm surprised by it too, as I think of Amtrak as super expensive. I think it must be that the times I'm looking at are kind of off-peak (late morning, late afternoon, etc).
