Neil Gaiman article in Vulture

There is some messed up stuff in his books that everyone was supposed to pretend was cool ten years ago. He is/was a darling of the literary left.

The silence is pretty deafening right now.

He gross.

I believe them.

I also don’t understand why there are multiple incidents. Why stay or continue care with a sexual predator? Power dynamics?

Has his first wife said anything?

Was Amanda also into this lifestyle?

Oh man. Just saw the vulture article. Made this post after variety only. Yuck.
He’s a sadistic predator

One of the more disturbing things I've read in awhile.

There was a time, not that long ago, that it was understood that many/most artists are. It's not done anymore, i.e., no longer expected or understood, but that doesn't mean that people are no longer people.

This is not "people" stuff. This is perpetrator stuff. Also, doing what he did in front of his child (and you know there's more than that) is sexual abuse if a minor. It doesn't matter if the child wasn't touched, you are not supposed to be having sex (or raping) in front of children. This isn't some outre artist stuff, this is sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse, etc, etc.

Your comment skirts extremely close to making excuses for him. Did you actually read the articles in their entirety? If so: Do you think it's just "people being people" to have sex in front of a minor child who's wide awake, since youre talking to your child during sex? And separately, to have someone grope you in the same bed where your child is sleeping--with the child between you and the other person? Both are alleged. So, you're cool with that as just, shrug!, people being people, PP?

Beyond sickening.

Who is excusing?

But maybe you are easily shocked. Maybe your expectations of people are narrow.

And this is what happens when people don’t make the effort to get therapy after childhood abuse.

NP. If you aren’t shocked by what has alleged to have happened in front of and to a minor child, you are probably a pedophile. Anyone normal would find the allegations horrifying.

His ex wife definitely doesn't come across positively. Sounds like she set that woman up.

Everyone involved is gross. These women all agreed to consensual sex with this man until at some point it went bad. What the heck did they expect, having sex with a married man while working as his babysitter? I’m not blaming them for instances of sexual assault but let’s not pretend these are upstanding young women. This man is disgusting. If he, as my boss invited me to take a bath in his garden, that would be a hard no. Where is common sense?

That young woman was not stable to begin with. The whole thing is off and awful.

That seems go be a common pattern with predators. They prey on unstable people because it's easier to blur the lines. Very sad and I hope they get the help needed.

+100. These women are fully complicit in their own treatment. They agreed to participate.
