Turks and Caicos or Riviera Maya |
Yes. Sorry. So far it seems that option B is the way to go. I have 500k points with chase and 400k with Capital one. So for option B I am thinking Turks and Caicos with the kids since I have never been there and another solo trip to yet to be determined destination. |
You will all love Turks and Caicos. Beaches is good with kids of all ages, plus its on Grace Bay. |
Maldives is a great destination for boring people. |
I would think that if your primary goal to see the Maldives are beautiful beaches, then you could easily find that in the Caribbean, much much cheaper, and probably with more things to do around. Maldives are quite boring outside the beach, and the culture will be strange to you. |
I found the people in the Maldives to be some of the friendliest, kindest, most welcoming people I’ve ever encountered anywhere. Their culture is beautiful and welcoming, certainly not “strange”. |
You don't have to go to the Maldives for that. Try Thailand for gorgeous beaches AND something to see and eat. |
Watch out for coral bleaching reports if snorkeling is important for coral not just fish. Maldives bleached I thought. |
OP here thanks again guys. We definitely settled on Turks and caicos with the kids for August. For my solo trip, I'm inclined to just stay here in the USA and visit key West when it's least busy. |
OP, I loved Maldives, and would go back for sure, but for your situation, I think you're making the right call with Turks and Caicos with the kids. I'm from India, and it's a short hop from home, and that's what makes it feasible for me. I would pick some place that would be less appealing to kids but still has a lot to offer for my solo trip, but if you just want to chill, and don't really care to explore, then Key West should be fine. |
Great, you will all love Turks and Caicos. Beats hauling over to Maldives/ Seychelles cause you can actually swim here too not just look at the sea etc |
I’ve been to the Maldives - it is beautiful and amazing. It is far. I’d go again; and I’d again visit somewhere else en route. I wouldn’t do just the Maldives for a trip. Like other posters suggested- partner it with somewhere else or pick a gorgeous beach destination closer. You can’t go wrong. |
