He went to TJ. What a great opportunity for him.

And an even better opportunity for TJ.

I hope they give him a chance. Their AAP boatd has some crazy personalities on it.

I think it is cool that he was in the first class of TJ graduates!

Darin Thompson to WSHS. That will solve two FCPS problems.

They aren’t going to move someone. They need to do the whole interview process. I doubt we see new hire until end of year or next year.

Why can't TJ finish the year without a principal?

Why can't Mukai finish the year at WSHS, so WSHS isn't the school going without a principal this year?

It didn't take very long (only a month or two?) for TJ to get a new principal. While I expect that WSHS will have an interim principal for a little while, they cold get their new principal well before the end of the school year.

Even so, TJ should finish the year with an interim principal, and Mukai should finish the year.

The first class was mostly kids left over from the previous regime and before it was good.

Which school is higher profile, has pushier parents, and gets written up on a monthly basis by local "journalists" proclaiming its demise?

Answer those questions, and you'll have your answer.

Current Hayfield principal

Why would he get transferred to WSHS?

That would be failing up for a principal who screwed up big time and got caught in a very public way.

Hayfield is a god school and deserves better. WSHS does not deserve to be downgraded like this. Transferring him just perpetuates the problems he helped create at Hayfield.

FCPS needs to be very thoughtful with who they replace Mukai with.

Sangster also had to replace a popular, successful principal over a dacade ago. The replacement principal was so different and awful, resulting in entire grades and departments of teachers leaving in her first couple of years. The staff turnover was outrageous at what had been a very content school.

FCPS eventually replaced her with one of the APs under the previous principal, which seems to be a much better fit for the culture of Sangster.

You would hate to see what happened at Sangster happen at WSHS.

I think you're taking a prior comment that was likely tongue-in-cheek a bit too literally. No one wants the Hayfield principal reassigned to their school.

Lots of WSHS faculty are thrilled to see him go. He was a snake in the grass. That's the best they could find for TJ? Yikes.
