Or have them start training to be a D1 athlete that will get a full ride scholarship as soon as they can walk. Or have them get a job as soon as they learn how to use scissors and glue. Let them eat cake. |
| OMG, this never occurred to me. OP, thank you for enlightening us!! Our kids would be saddled with debt had you not posted this earth-shattering information. We are forever in your debt. |
| I accidentally adopted my child when they weren’t a newborn. Can you believe how careless I was? |

I don’t think OP is totally off here. I look at what my peers spend $ on things that did not even exist 25 years ago and wonder the same.
Of course, if you can’t pay rent or groceries or your retirement and a reasonable vacation each year that is a different cohort. But eating out, buying Starbucks, Sephora, annual tickets, Botox, etc all add up. We have neighbors who own a boat and jet skis that complain. These other people when they complain about college tuition, I want to roll my eyes. |
We started BEFORE they were born. |
This. My friend owns two homes and a RV. I hear constant complaints about costs and how expensive college is. They also get $25,000 - $36,000 a year from a parent and still they complain. |

I started the month they were born and would not have had enough if grandparents had not helped and if child had chosen certain OOS schools. In fact, they were very limited by costs as to where they could apply.
