SLC ski recommendations

We don't have epic passes so won't go to Park City (regardless of their patrol situation, though I'm sure it will be handled by then). Everyone skis and ranges between advanced-intermediate to very competent (I hate the word expert and feel like using it is asking for trouble).

We could stay someplace sort of central and drive to Alta, Solitude, etc. and would love recommendations for any specific air bnbs or condos.
But I'd really like to stay someplace ski in/ski out even if we venture further. (Tho, I'm not sure how common this is in Utah...I haven't been since I was a kid). Also, we have to buy adult tickets so someplace somewhat less outrageous would be great.

Any suggestions?

I live in park city. How old are your kids? If they are 4th, 5th or 6th graders, they are eligible for the Utah youth pass, which is not restricted to Utah residents. The bigger resorts have blackout dates.

I would choose ski in/ski out at Alta, snowbird or solitude. Cliff lodge at snowbird is great with an outdoor pool. At Alta, I like snowpine because it’s newer and more modern. You can do a day trip to park city and ski dv or pc, especially if they can get the youth passes. Do not underestimate the traffic, especially if it’s a powder day and check websites if parking reservations are needed. All the little and big cottonwood canyon resorts have parking reservations, as does park city.

In 2019 Brighton offered an end of season ski pass that was an amazing deal. It was unlimited skiing after a certain day. You should call and ask if they plan to offer it. We stayed in Big Cottonwood in a cabin. About a 8 minute drive to the hill. Much easier than schlepping stuff from some condo 15 minutes away by foot.

You could also stay at Solitude.

I would price out the lift tickets to make sure this trip isn't out of the budget. If you don't have Ikon or Epic, you are looking at A LOT of $$ to ski. All of the discounts from the early 2000s appear to be mostly gone.

Also as others have said... traffic is a nightmare. It has caused us to avoid skiing in Utah even though it is my first choice.

Thanks! Our kids have the password mentioned above so while it won't be pretty, they are covered.

Our goal is 3 days at one place ski in ski out ISH (ie not having to drive) and then 1 or 2 days elsewhere (they get 3 days at each resort).

Looks like we should price out solitude. Alta, and snowbird.
