How much is too much to put into a house?

If a renovation makes it the most expensive home in the area, don't do it.

We purchased a 2m home ten years ago and have easily put over 1.2m in with both updates and personal high end renovations/decorating. I almost started a renovation on a basement bathroom that we renovated seven years ago but had to pause and realize we are absolutely capped at our recoup limit.

We plan on selling in the next two years and will start no higher than 3.2, which will be a good price for our size, city and neighborhood location. With agent fees, taxes, moving costs, we will end up losing slightly but we have loved the home and the process along the way.
