How was the Medical Care in Switzerland, Greece (Mykonos/Santorini), France (Tuscany/Riviera) and Italy (Amalfi Coast)?

Daughter needed urgent (not emergency) care when we were in Stockholm last year and the care/time waiting/ease of getting prescriptions was exceptional. Got her all taken care of for about $40.

Western Europe is racist AF. It will probably help when they realize you’re American and not an African immigrant.

Will the average front line provider be familiar with your condition? If so, the care will be fine. If not, it may be a lot of hitting your head against the wall for a while.

All of the places you posted have urgent care accessible. I’d just make a plan ahead of time and research where you need to go. English speaking providers can’t be taken for granted, so to the extent you can find those ahead of time you should.

Use expat resources for your search. There are English speaking expats in each place and there may be websites or Facebook groups with a list of English speaking providers…

In Greece, ask your hotel for a doctor recommendation. Avoid a busy hospital. Had an accident and a local called the town doctor and took me to her office (after hours). She did initial exam and X-ray for $50 euros and was willing to get me into the hospital if I needed to go. I didn’t. Very impressed with her care and the cost. Just know who to call if necessary.

Have you been to the Greek islands or the almafi coast? It’s rural. Health care outside of the major cities in Italy and Greece is not great.

I would happily accept Swiss medical treatment; accept French treatment; not accept unless absolutely necessary Italian treatment and then fly home or to Switzerland or Germany as soon as practicable; immediately fly home rather than accept any Greek treatment. (Based on personal experience and/or knowledge).

OP I don’t know anything about your disease but I think you should talk to your doctor about it because I don’t think your needs are going to be the same as a tourist who has a heart attack or broken leg.

If you can anticipate what kind of acute care you might need you can probably do much better research about what is close to where you are traveling or even have the doctors communicate before you go.
