Flying out of DCA on Inauguration Day?

OP here. Thanks all. I found a flight Jan 20 out of BWI with a better connection. Yes, I know I was being paranoid. I'm really not a worrier, whatever happens - it's is out of my control. But for a split second, I was reliving memories of the travel ban.

Are you a citizen of one of countries that was banned?

I plan to avoid going anywhere in DC proper that day, but the airports are in VA & MD.

I would fly out the day before and fly out of Dulles. National is going to be crazytown.

I don’t think that many people come in for inauguration tbh. It’s cold AF. I think when there’s a big inauguration crowd it’s a bunch of locals.

There is a DC Victory Rally the day before. Agree DCA will be jammed. BWI a great choice, OP.

Here’s the thing - if there is some sort of security incident the 19th or 20th they will further restrict adjacent DC air space and shut down DCA for an indeterminate amount of time.

I’d much rather fly out of BWI or IAD to avoid any what-if’s.
