| I usually have a good NYE! It’s mostly about your mindset. |

This year was kind of my perfect NYE. DH built a fire, and we just chatted while drinking wine and eating a cheeseboard in our pajamas. Said “yay it’s midnight” when the time came but didn’t bother doing/watching anything else. Asleep by 12:15. Kids were at grandma’s so we got to sleep in a tiny bit.
The key is low expectations. We stopped going out for NYE years ago and are pretty content about it. |
| Yes. My sibling is married with kids. They had two families with kids over last year. The kids celebrated New Year's on NY time (they're in CA) and then all went to bed. The adults stayed up and toasted New Year's at midnight and all went to bed around 12:30am. Then in the morning made pancakes and eggs and fruit, and everyone went home by 10am. The key is that they had multiple guest rooms. |
| Of course. We spent it at home, watching a movie and eating good food, just our nuclear family. |

| We had a great New Year's Eve. It was more low key than usual. We went out to dinner nearby at a French restaurant which was a la carte and had amazing food and reasonably priced and a very welcoming atmosphere. Then we went home and watched the ball drop on TV. |
| We had a great one. Dinner out early with friends, then everyone came back to our place to hang out and ring in the new year. |
| We went to the Capitals game and dinner afterwards. Had a good time. |
| Yes. I just had one last night. Sorry yours sucked but c'est la vie. |

Mine was fabulous. Walked to free public transportation at 4, ate an amazing Italian dinner (wait was 15 minutes and total bill for 5 adults and red wine was $220), walked to the park for ice sculptures and great fireworks at 7, home by 830 via free public transportation. Watching nyc ball drop in couch in pjs with kids by 9. Pounded 12 grapes at midnight and went to bed. Only snag was one teen kid sent her grubhub order to our house so I had to drive it (in my pjs) to the sleepover party at 10.
Perfect night, great weather. |
| We have heavy apps with neighbors. It's great! |

I’ve never really enjoyed New Year’s Eve.
In college, it was a try hard night. In our 20s it seemed like amateur night like everybody that never went out was out that night. I decided early on that I would never go out on New Year’s Eve. I’ve had a New Year’s Day party for 25 straight years. This is the first year I didn’t do it for various reasons. Every New Year’s Day, I would make a brunch and invite people over to watch football and you were supposed to bring the bottle of champagne. You did not pop last night. Everybody brings a bottle of champagne and they hold it till midnight and then one person pops up and it’s like well. I’m not gonna open all the other ones and there’s always leftover champagne. If you don’t have leftover champagne, then you don’t bring anything. I make sure I have Black Eyed Peas and oysters for traditional people. And some sort of pork. |
| I hosted a NYE happy hour, it was fun- a dozen friends, lots of apps and bubbly-started at 5 and ended at 9:30... I was in bed at 10:30. |
