Unfortunately they’re almost all going to at least have spandex/elastane which is basically polyurethane, unless you’re willing to do some sort of chunky traditional French mariner supply shop

Not true. The Quince sweaters, for instance, are 100% content.

There is enough demand at this point that they aren't actually that hard to find. 10 years ago it was much harder.

Nah, there are tons of 100% cotton sweaters out there.

It doesn’t need the synthetic fibers the way some wool does and I’m not even sure it makes it cheaper for them.

Pura cashmere has nice cotton fisherman's sweaters. They are pretty generously cut and hit just above the hip.
