S/O people are still paying for passport photos

Which App do you use and will it produce a file that can be printed to the right format at a cvs booth?

Everyone should download an app, figure out the photo timer thing, have a white background (or is that part of the app?), have a printer even if they haven't owned one in 20 years, and buy photo paper that they'll use for their next set of passport photos in 10 years.

I'm pretty frugal, but some things aren't worth it. I don't need a perfect Instageam passport photo. I just need a photo every 10 years.

THIS. I’m on the frugal side as well but I’d rather pay a pittance to someone who does this every day and knows exactly how it’s supposed to work.

You don't need an app. Just use a website like this. It will show you how to crop it, and then output a 4x6 sized jpeg file with 4 or 5 copies of your 2x2 photo, and of course one square for their ad.

Best part is if you are just renewing an adult passport, now you can do it online so don't even need to print anything anymore.

I like how finding a white wall and another person for 30 seconds to take your picture against it is apparently too much for some people.

I literally take a photo on my phone and crop and resize in my phone's camera app

Yes! It's so strange. I take my own passport photo too. I don't use a tripod, but I don't even have long arms. What, crazy I know. And my walls aren't even white. They are BM Stonington Gray. My pictures and my infant's picture were accepted for passports.

I don't want to think about it. I walk into CVS, they make sure it fits the requirements, and I'm happy to pay for that.

I'm the opposite. I don't want to deal with some cvs employee. I don't want a receipt a mile long. Click, upload, I'm done. Not just for passport but ask the annoying visa photos they ask you to submit

Because some jobsworth at the embassy or passport authority will reject the photo for the littlest reason and you lose weeks having to submit a new photo and starting again in the queue.

I pay $15 to a guy who understands pixels, colors and passport photo requirements and can take photos with proper lighting without shadows. I send the photo to the passport authority in his business envelope and it never gets rejected. Money well spent.

My photo was rejected for the background being too gray.

NP here,I think the point of OP wasn't about the printing cost. It's about paying for someone else to take it.

At most it's around 50 cents to print a 4x6 photo at CVS or Walgreens.

Some of us just don’t care about the additional cost. My post office will take the photos right there. Saves me an extra stop and I know the photos are compliant. But we have to go to the post office because I have kids and they still need “new” passports each time.

I am just cracking up that people are balling at the cost of a passport photo needed once every 5-10 years in the grand scope of the price of travel these days. It costs less than your airport chipotle.

Thank you. Now I remember looking into going this last time I renewed my passport. There was nothing on the website guaranteeing your rights as to your image, so I decide to pass. Who knows what they do with the photos.
