We don’t let foreign owners control certain types of companies like defense manufacturers, telecom providers, airlines, etc. Allowing the Chinese to control a social media platform is insane. Whoever controls the algorithms behind the platforms holds enormous sway over public opinion. While we may not like the content pushed by Musk and Zuckerberg, we don’t have to worry about them using their power to advance the interests of a rival nation.
