Is this even legal? Is democracy dying already?

It’s starting now that we have our lawmakers, that citizens voted for, proposing that a random creepy autistic South African be put in power.

No, everyone doesn’t hate him.

Just fringe crazies like you.

I'm a moderate. It sounds like you are 12 and are just starting to learn about politics. Welcome.

DP moderates destroyed this country.

Yes it is perfectly legal but he would never do it. It is easier to just veto everything and walk away. Governing means you have to get something done. Anarchist just have to throw a wrench in the gears.

Would Elon Musk be the first African American speaker of the house? That would be a historic moment that surely Democrats would support as well.

How can musk be speaker if he can’t even get a top security clearance?
Anonymous
Too bad he came here as an illegal from South Africa.

Rand Paul is a senator. The Speaker of the House is not his business.

This is a misconception. Clearances are given by the president. His staff recommends what level is appropriate but it is still the decision of the president. Otherwise some staffer or the Head of DSH could control who the president appoints by denying security clearances.

His neighbor did!

His neighbor was a typical DCUM poster.

Really? Have you watched the Republicans -- their idea of governing is not "getting something done". Their idea of governing is taking it all apart -- whether by defunding it or blowing it up. Having Musk as Speaker would just give cover to elected Rs -- they get to say, "we didn't wreck it, he did". But, they want to wreck it, because they think all government is bad. OK - they are in charge, so FAFO.

Personally, I think it's appalling that an unelected billionaire with significant government contracts is in charge of anything in the USG. Worse, the way DOGE is set up, it is deliberately designed to avoid any ethics obligations, because Musk isn't being "paid" by the USG.

So I know probably 35 autistic adults well. They are all lovely people and would endeavor to help whomever they could through whatever job they had. They are plenty of ways to insult that pasty-faced zero aura douche without stooping to ableist slurs.

25% of that is Trump's tax cuts for the billionaires. And he wants to spend more on more tax cuts for billionaires.

Let's also not forget the felon's agricultural subsidies because he tanked the sector with his tariffs, and he also increased aid to Israel, which expires in 2028.
