Why volunteer for a private school board?

Ours was appointed and the only " volunteers" welcomed were big money donors. You must not be talking about elite privates OP.

It’s a great opportunity to further your own financial interests if you make it applicable. Say, if you were the president of a construction company and also the chairman of your child’s private school board. You might encourage your sole employee (the head) to engage in two very expensive building construction projects within 5-10 years that utilize your company.

Ha! I just finished that novel and it was excellent. Highly recommend it to anyone in the area or with kids at a private school.

They serve because they have lots of money and also want to smooth the way for their kids.

Wasn’t referencing a novel but it sure sounds like one. Unless by novel you mean the Bullis magazine for the last decade then sure! Great novel

This is why I like the "no current or potentially future parents on the board" approach.

I’m referencing the Sidwell novel that just came out- It’s a Privilege Just to Be Here. I’m a trustee but we are definitely not a Sidwell family but so much of the story rang uncomfortably true.
