I have. They gave me topical steroid lotion for my scalp. Did not work.

you need to go back and have them see it. It could possibly be psoriasis that you need to treat systemically.

There's a very new topical for seb derm and psoriasis that is very effective. It's called Zoryve. It's expensive, but worth it to investigate what your insurance will cover.

We saw a derm for my son who had this problem. He’s now using the ketaconazole shampoo (prescription) twice a week and it’s really helping.

You need the shampoo.

This. My DH’s rx is for Loprox and he said only the shampoo, not the lotion, is effective.

She tried nizoral and selsun
Sounds like eczema

But the derm can prescribe a higher strength ketaconazole than what is in over the counter Nizoral.

This is the “mousse” that I use.

You need to see a doctor, but in the meantime try Mustela—the one for cradle cap.

You need to go back, or consult a different derm.

Have you tried apple cider vinegar? Wash with lukewarm water, massage apple cider vinegar into your scalp for 1 minute, then rinse and condition.

I also use scalpicin, when things are really dry in the winter.

Try shampoo with zinc pyrithione. It is another anti-fungal. It is the only one that works for me. It is a miracle.

^ and yes, I’ve used ketaconazole based products before. Zinc pyrithione shampoos worked 1000x better for me at getting bad seb derm controlled.

Gently use some hair oil like Moroccan oil and massage into the scalp and then gently pull the gunk away with a fine tooth comb. When it’s just a little bit I can nick it in the bud with t-Sal and some combing with a fine tooth comb like lifting the hair away from the scalp to break up with crust.

If you have a fungal infection, the oils make it worse. Just go see a derm.

I agree that going back to the derm is the best thing to do. But as a side note, I have had amazing luck with the Target branded dandruff shampoo. It isn't the same as Head and Shoulders or any of the others - somehow it's different. I have been using it as my daily shampoo for years and years.
