I don’t think any preschools do worksheets and drills. Most of the preschools are play based. Even HM 3s is not worksheets and drills. Btw, many siblings and others apply to HM 3s to avoid the stiff K competition.
I do agree with with comments above. If you want to aim for TT preschool and that preschool has 2s program, your best chance of getting in is the 2s program. Because that would be the entry point. |
Where are you based? The "top" preschools are on the UES with a few on the UWS. There are a few downtown that are very well regarded as well.
"Baby Ivies" of the UES: Gold standard = 92 St Y (now 92NY) and Episcopal Brick Church Temple Emanu-El Christ Church Day School Garden House School St. Thomas More Playgroup Top UWS schools: Park Children's Day School West Side Montessori Bank Street School for Children Top Downtown schools: Washington Market School Beginnings Nursery School First Presbyterian Church Nursery School City and Country School |
My child went to one of the schools listed. I would also add Montclare to the UWS list (huge feeder for Dalton), and Barrow Street to the downtown list. |
There are so many preschools who “claim” or has reputation to be a feeder for Dalton. Dalton has a huge K class so maybe it has multiple feeders. But I would take it with grain of salt. |
When my child was in Kindergarten at Dalton (recently), there were 9 kids from Montclare in the K class. Most other preschools had 2-5 kids. I believe there are even more this year from Montclare. Take from that what you wish. |
Yes, I think Montclare routinely has 8-10 in at Dalton. Which I am sort of surprised by, since Montclare seems so traditional and Dalton more progressive. |
Anyone go to a preschool not on this list and get into a TT kindergarten? |
Yes, definitely. I also completely forgot Resurrection Episcopal Day School - another top UES school. Oops! |
All Souls is also not on the list. |
Madison Avenue Presbyterian should be on it |
