Landon boys simply don’t play on outside club teams that conflict. If the club team is the priority, don’t choose Landon. It’s really that simple. |
| Can anyone speak to golf? How does playing for the school impact playing in tournaments on weekends? Can you get an exemption in the fall to play on your own/practice? |
Golf is a spring sport. You won’t need any exemption from team activities in the fall |
You just schedule around the Landon schedule. Golf is the easiest sport to make work in my experience since you can set your own schedule for the outside stuff. There are so many AJGA tournaments and the season doesn’t overlap with things like U.S. Junior qualification and the like. |
Post freshman year you can do “contract athletics” in the fall and won’t have any scheduling issues. |
Why wouldn’t there be conflicts with club sports after freshman year? |
I thought Contract Athletics was only allowed once? Or did I misread, and it’s allowed once per year in 10th-12th? |
Contract Athletics is an option the school offers students who play at a high level outside of school, but the intention is for sports that Landon doesn’t offer, so I don’t think it would help for, say, a boy playing club soccer. |
| Whatever the sport get permission in writing before committing. If you are accustomed to more typical, Big3 sports policies, you will be surprised at what is denied. |
This is false. Lots of misinformation on this site. Plenty of club soccer players do a season of contract at Landon. |
Good to know! I was merely repeating information from the school’s own website, a source that I apparently wrongly assumed would be free of misinformation. You seem personally familiar, so could you clarify whether only one season is allowed across all four years, or if it’s one season per year? I could not find it specified, and it sounds like I shouldn’t trust the website even if I do find it there. |
