The Ivy family is a force in PG politics and I would be shocked if she didn't win.
Baker is also a realistic choice. Interestingly, the two of them live within a half a mile of each other. Ivy's chances could be impacted if this whole Cheverly/Bladensburg annexation issue gets ugly. |
| I assume Ivey will. |
| Baker hopefully. He’s so much nicer in-person than Ivey. |
| Hawkins or Baker would be better. The problem is that Baker will cut into Hawkins' support. Don't know about Braveboy or Sweat, but Braveboy has big business support (Maryland Business Matters, Northeast Maglev). Ivey has the most active and powerful connections. She is politically astute and mad as a wet hen about the annexation issue. No doubt she will punish Bladensburg if she wins. She has ably maneuvered the Prince George's County Council to carry out her from progressive-to-pro-development policies. Whoever wins, Prince George's County will be badly/selfishly represented as it was under Alsibrooks. |
| As long as it’s not Braveboy. |
I am just glad that Alsobrooks is gone so we can go back to admitting that she did a bad job. |
Yeah, I think that Bladensburg may be shooting themselves in the foot with this one. Their county council rep, state representative, state senator and member of the House live in Cheverly. (As does Baker) |
| What isn't Tara Jackson running? |
She stated that she won't run in her first press conference as Acting County Executive. |
She isn't interested |
| As someone not familiar with PG politics, is the person's name really Braveboy or is that just a pejorative? |
Yes that's her last name. |
| Can we get Parris Glendenning to run again? |
Thanks |
... You want the former governor of Maryland with one foot in the grave to be County executive of the second largest jurisdiction in the state? |
