| None. Don't do insta. Just this one and that's wasteful enough. |

I wouldn't describe her as an influencer because I don't think she gets many deals, but there's a woman who highlights estate sales in DC and is also a stand-up comic who I follow @maddytheb
Also, someone mentioned onthemovewithmad above and I also enjoy her travel content I don't ever buy things that any instagramer advertises through brand deals, but I don't think that's a reason to not follow someone |
The amount of over travel/flights for no good reason Maddie does is gross to me. |

I posted somewhere on page 1. Forgot to mention @bestaddress. I think he's a realtor, but he showcases lots of interesting older buildings and knows a lot of the history behind certain features and details.
And no, I'm not him! |

These DC “influencers” bug me with their “hidden gems” BS, especially the ones re food/restaurants and state/national parks.
I do have an insta account and a few months ago the algorithm showed me a reel from dmvfoodie that was showing how she had discovered this “hidden gem” of a soul food in Alexandria. It was the Blue and White which is on the corner of Wythe and Rt 1. Claims she made: she had discovered the best soul food in the DMV, that this place was hard to find so be careful driving or you will miss it, that she was presenting this breaking news about this new restaurant. The comments were brutal. I’ve lived in Alexandria 25 years and that place has always been there and it’s smack on the corner across from the main post office. It’s not hidden, it’s not new, and it is super popular especially with shift workers which is why it has nontraditional hours. It’s a take out place run by Koreans. It also probably contributes to heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes. It’s the ultimate greasy spoon. There is no where to sit, you walk in, give your order, shift to the side, get food, go out back door. They open at like 4am and close once they sell out of food. They aren’t open on the weekends. Everyone knows this place. The blogger had to take down the video bc people were giving her such a hard time about her hidden gem she was telling everyone about. Was pretty funny. |
| Here in the NOVA burbs I am enjoying @reston_love for weekend events and hidden local gems |

I don’t follow her, but I will stop and watch the estate sale reels when the algorithm sends them to me.
Ditto for the young woman who works at a GU art museum (Emma something, I think). She has truly enviable hair and the kind of style I like to think I would have had if I’d also had a ton of money at her age. |
| Not DC Influencers but I follow a dozen or more DIY home improvement/upcycling influencers. Its addictive. Some of them post these paint stripping videos and I know the stripper may not work and is way too expensive yet I enjoy the content so I watch. It is satisfying watching these people strip paint, refinish furniture, add board and batten molding to walls and painting them. |
Joe Himali and I adore him! |
