Watch Dark Waters 2019 and check back in with us. We’re busy changing our plastic utensils.

Threw my remaining one away. Using stainless, silicone, wood, and one grey plastic egg spatula.

I replaced with silicone..they seem remarkably similar.

Just tossed a black plastic spatula that was starting to flake. Replaced with silicone.

Anyone have a rec for good silicone ones?

I switched to steel and silicone and ceramic utensils. Got rid of nonstick pans. I use only enamel cast iron, regular cast iron, stainless steel. No plastic goes in dishwasher or microwave or hot water. It’s been a big change!

+1 looking for recommendations. Are all silicone ones the same in terms of being chemical free?

There's always a new thing discovered to be bad for us. I'm going to die from some combination of all those things.

And is black silicone safe?
Also wondering if it's heating the black plastic that is safe. Are black handles ok?

All black plastic is bad even when not being exposed to heat. Made from dangerous stuff. Melamine too, just bad all around.
Trader Joe’s has silicone spatulas from time to time. IKEA has safe options, just read carefully - they have cheap plastic for USA market and good silicone or steel for European market

I had no idea about this

I bought these silicone ones a few years ago, are they okay?

Never bought them in the first place, because it was obvious they would leak into your food while cooking and stirring things around the pan, scraping, etc. Yuck.

Got rid of all the black plastic, kept the silicone, metal, and wood

You want to find a brand that uses “food grade” silicone so it’s 100 percent silicone. I found a brand on Amazon called Fyvva.
