Because if Trump goes through with eliminating the DOE, it would mean the elimination of Title I funds, which MCPS relies on quite a bit for resources. That kind of a hole in the budget would be highly disruptive, in what is already a challenging budget climate at the state level.

Albernoz is merely doing his job by acknowledging this impending reality.

Then we should stop building Crown High. The surrounding high schools are projected to have minimal overcrowding now.

They can shift kids from other schools to relieve overcrowding. They need Crown and at least one more school DCC.

I think it’s fair question to ask about the worst case scenario if Trump is able follow through on shutting down the DoE completely without any replacement for the funding it provides. Not likely a political reality though.

As a politician, and even those who are not, already know what effects are coming if those campaign promises are fulfilled. ask a question just to ask a question? Some of these meetings (e.g BOE ones) are filled with pointless questions.

MCPS needs to replace or fix smart boards in classrooms not expect PTAs to fund for replacements. Same with providing fans in school gyms and classrooms with unopenable windows or no windows in older school buildings, not expect school PTA to cover it. Unacceptable.

MCPS doesn’t expect any PTA to cover the above. In fact, PTAs shouldn’t be covering the above. Maybe talk to your school PTA and school administration about this.

Here come that mcps attorney. Obvi if a teacher couldn't get it from CO, they are asking for it from PTA.

Yeah. PTAs are not supposed to fund things like operational technology such as smart boards. That's a big no-no.

So Central office is getting into each of the 211 schools to check the boards? Highly doubt that. The fact that this even has to be reported is unacceptable, CO need to be doing that job!

And what about cooling systems in windowless classrooms and gyms that dont have proper cooling methods. It's 80 degrees in November! Also a "no-no"? Does MCPS plan to handle a suit if staff or student is overheated? Taylor??

But why? Didn’t MCPS just replace the smart boards? It was a whole thing like last year. What happens if your teachers put in a work order?
