MCPS technology requirement

It's true APs are not offered in the summer, so if you want to fulfill the tech requirement in the summer, you'll have to take whatever's available. My kid did Health A and Health B the summer before 9th grade, to get rid of that requirement, so definitely you can take two semesters worth of stuff in one summer.

Do dual enrollment. There’s a class at Montgomery College that fulfills the technology credit and your kid will only need to take one semester at MC. One semester at MC counts for a full year credit.

I don’t know if Digital Art fulfills the tech credit, but my dc is taking it and really enjoying it. That might be fun for an artsy kid.

Digital Art does not fulfill the tech credit. But it does fulfill the arts credit.

Why don't the higher level CS classes fulfill the requirement? It's super annoying that DD has to go and take a class where she won't learn a thing just to fulfill that requirement.

What are other options besides going "backwards" for a kid who already took AP CS Java?

Foundations of Technology (hardware) or anything over summer.

It's like Health. It's a class for the masses. There are no good classes.
