Citizenship by Investment

Hilarious that someone thinks you need to speak Portuguese or Spanish to live in those countries. They are both stuffed to the gills with UK expats and so most people speak English to accommodate the money that brings in.

Just got back from Porto and met a US couple who had been living there for a year. They were very happy. He had learned some Portuguese. The wife less. They were getting free healthcare and lived in a lovely apartment with a water view.

One frustration I had when digging into this for Portugal and Spain was how opaque the investments were (if not pursuing the real estate avenue). As a Vanguard client of many years I'm used to pulling up a quick prospectus that outlines fees, risks, and returns. All I could get from the websites was a description of what they were invested in and a contact us link.

Sadly it looks like Spain is ending their program in January.

Your husband will qualify under the Digital Nomad visa in a number of countries, and in fact, would be unable to work legally under a number of the other schemes.

This,

This went to visit friends living in a small town in Portugal, positively swimming with Brits.
