mcps gradebook in parentvue--useful?

Gradebook bears no relationship to my kid's 1MP grades...all it does is let me know that an assignment is missing (maybe) but 9 times out of 10 my kid just says the gradebook is not updated.

The grade book situation is RIDICULOUS. Half the time the assignments don’t even show in Synergy because it’s hasn’t been synced. If you look in the Canvas app you can’t see the grades because the Total grade is restricted. Even when you can see an assignment it might not be graded for weeks. Nothing comes home in MS and HS so you’re clueless to how they are actually doing. And half the teachers are using Canvas differently.

Can they please get everyone in the district on the same page with this and standardized a timeframe for providing grades and feedback. How in the heck do they expect parents to be involved or helping at home when sometimes a 0 is actually just because of how a teacher setup Canvas vs actually the student didn’t turn in the assignment vs they actually got everything wrong. When sometimes an A is now a C but we won’t know until 2 weeks before the quarter closes.

Two weeks? How lucky you are. Try day of teachers deadline. Some teachers really could use a TA to help them!!!

Op here. My kid’s D in Gradebook was an A in his first MP grade. Mcps shouldn’t have info that is so misaligned with reality. It’s better to give parents no info than info that is wrong
