DD has had a great experience on Kyleena.

wow thank you!

+1 to VHC OBGYN. I just had my MIrena removed (expired) and a new one placed by Dr. Panzer. I needed it done with ultrasound guidance bc it was a bit embedded, and they gave me local anesthetia which was great. I felt some pressure but not much pain.

IUDs are great, I had one, but boy are they painful in insertion. And if any issues if you have it removed, you've just spent a lot of money.

This I cannot imagine the pain for a 15 year old with a closed cervix. Labor level pain. Torture.

Can she try Nexplanon instead? My DD said her period is much lighter.

I had an iud pre-kids in my early 20s. It is very painful but insertion is so fast. You can likely coach her thru it—uf she has been reading up on this online she is already aware.

I see Dr. Moore and she did my IUD. I would take my daughter to see her if she was having issues. She’s very kind.

Why can’t they give sedation for IUD insertion? I literally don’t get it. It is horribly painful, and hurts more for some women than others. Sedation seems like the obvious solution

My kid had an IUD inserted at 15 by a pediatric gyn (Rachel Casey with INOVA) who absolutely used sedation. We didn't even have to ask for it; I think it's standard practice for her. (To answer the question of why not try BCP first, we did...four different types. Only one worked for DDs issues but it had such horrible side effects that it was not sustainable for her).
