Any luck/experience in getting a classroom switch?

They should make the parent attend school with the child.

Oh yes, let’s bring back segregation.

That’s not what segregation is, and you know that.

But I guess I don’t assume that Black and Hispanic kids a) aren’t as highly able, and b) the ones with the behavior issues. I think these things affect all races.

You just outed yourself, bigot.

You do know that segregation doesn’t just refer to Black and Hispanic kids right? You suggested segregation because of disability. No bueno.

When that child stops the entire class from learning, then yeah.

You really think 25+ kids deserve to not be educated just so one horribly behaved kid can be included in the gen ed classroom?

Are you really that stupid?

Agree - make the parents chaperone the child at school until behavior improves.

Or bring back alternative school for kids who can’t get it together.

True sped kids (ones with actual disabilities) are a totally different story.

Problem with the “make the parents chaperone” solution: apples do not fall far from trees. Having that parent in the classroom may worsen the situation.

Alternative. School.

The situation you’re describing can’t be solved by lumping them in with everyone else.

We are looking at privates next year for this reason. The privates we've looked at allow sped students but none with outbursts or who have a history of violence.

It's sad that my tax dollars go to fund our very excellent local school system that we can no longer use because of a handful of kids who do not belong or deserve to be mainstreamed.
