Basal Reading program - Kindergarten

She said she mainstreams the important bits of it and they have a 15 min movement break in the middle of it.

The Benchmark LA curriculum itself does not require a single 2-hour block with no breaks, but maybe FCPS Gatehouse or Principal are requiring that.

Dear god. Already threads on this. And shut up about DEI, MAGA loser.

Our son's K teacher hates it. We are in a "high performing" ES and she thinks it's poorly constructed and also limits how much the students can learn.

But because it does not seem to be a DEI program, I'm having a hard time believing that its garbage and disproportionately negatively impacts non DEI students.

She encouraged us to complain to the school board, but if it's state-wide, is the board really all that helpful?

Others?

Stop lying. Benchmark has nothing to do with the VA Literacy Act and has nothing to do with equity. The program has rigor, something that FCPS has been lacking in for many years. That is why teachers and parents find it "too hard" for their snowflakes.

Finally - the school system gave ALL parents and teachers and school administrators the opportunity to review the program and provide feedback. You clearly did not.
