Elite swimmer 3.5 unweighted

This.

2026?

D3/Ivy will do academic pre-read during the process to determine if student is likely to be admitted.

I assume some other D1s do this as well (Duke, Vanderbilt, BC types) but my experience was with Power 4s not this academic

What are the college options?
Wherever they're recruited, of course.

It wholly depends on the stoke(s) and needs of the school AND who else is recruiting at the same time. Most high academic schools will require high academics from swimmers unless olympic trial qualifiers.

You are either a troll or woefully uninformed about swimming recruiting.

D1 scholarship caps for swimming are increasing to 30 but most schools outside P4 aren’t going to be able to afford the cap.

If your kids is truly a D1 P4 recruit she can get in anywhere with a 3.5.

On the other hand, VMI is “D1” but their times are basically D2-D3 times.

Ryan Lockte swam at Florida and he seems to be dumber than dirt. So UF?

Ivies still care about academics. So unless the 3.5 is entirety AP classes or non-core subjects bringing it down, they are likely off the table no matter how fast.

D1, D2 or D3?
What kind of cuts- sectionals? Futures, Jr Nationals, Nationals?

This is not historically true for D1 mid-majors. But. . . With the roster cuts on the horizon, many of the mid-major spots may be filled by transfers out of large power 4 program. It’s a horrible time to find a D1 spot if you are not top in the country. So. . . If D1 coaches aren’t coming to you, I’d look at D2 and D3.

Honestly, not sure why you are asking the question? As long as above NCAA minimums you are good.

This. High academic D3 are the places where the gpa would restrict options if she isn’t as elite as you think she is.

Tufts isn’t taking a 3.5.

If you are looking at D3s you will have to be at least at the median for admission stats. Or possibly be way above the time norms for the team if it’s a coach that has some pull.

I find it strange when people ask a sports question prefaced by “my kid is an elite athlete in sport X” and then ask basic recruiting questions.

I don’t know any elite athlete families that need to pose questions on DCUM. Those families are in the rarified position of sifting through double-digit D1 offers and just figuring out which one to select.

Look at Team Durant…the Sidwell kid just committed to play basketball at Kentucky and had like 30 offers. His teammate last year is playing for Georgetown and also had over 20 offers.

I get basketball is different from swimming…but I doubt the process was much different for Katie Ledecky (or any Olympic swimmer or any swimmer just missing the cut…you know, an elite athlete).

As an elite swimmer, what schools have approached you?

That’s a very good question. I am not trying to be snarky, but you can start another thread for that.

You seem rude, OP.

Yep, especially when they don’t even post stats.
