This is absolutely the worst for the environment! Imagine if everyone threw away this!

The dirty stick still needs to be stored.

I 💯 agree with disposable. I like the scrubbing bubbles ones. Easy to spray clean the stick, could never do that with a brush

Any recommendations for ones that really clean under the rim?

I feel like you're someone who sets their AC below 75, and heat above 70.

I think if this is an issue you maybe have hard water?

I have this one

It gets in all the nooks and crannies

It’s not attractive so I hide it in a cabinet when not in use. I had the nicer looking ones in a stainless steel container but it was a terrible brush

None of the round brushes can clean well under the rim. Most are designed to clean the visible parts of the bowl. I have a Brabantia ($$$!), because it’s not too ugly. If I want to clean under the rim, I scrub it with an old sponge and disposable gloves. I recommend occasionally using the kind of toilet cleaner that’s aimed at limescale, but don’t mix it with bleach based products.

I know there are great toilet brushes in Europe that clean under the rim, but do I really want to put a toilet brush in my hand luggage?
They’re round with a side brush that sticks up. I bought a lookalike here, but it’s not the same

Toilet brushes are gross and so are sponges (for the kitchen) and there are more sanitary ways to clean a toilet.

Save your old toothbrushes and then just throw away when done. even using a wad a paper towels and enough cleaner can work and you are no longer left with a gross brush.

You want one with silicone bristles. They work SO MUCH better.

We use the Clorox disposable ones.

Those are THE WORST. The heads always come off, and then you have to fish them out of the toilet. Great concept, execution is awful. It's such a waste of money.

I've been using them for probably 15 years and have literally NEVER had this problem. Maybe you are holding them incorrectly so are accidentally pressing the release button?

We wrap it in a plastic bag or wrapper that is about to go in the trash and use one for all the toilets in the house.
