You could stop and have Boston Cream Pie at the Omni Parkerhouse Hotel if you want dessert.

100%

Who the h*ll are these people suggesting frickin' chains like dunkin and Tatte that you can get anywhere? lol

The food is so much better up north. Branch out.

BU - Loan Star Taco Bar, LuLu's, Draft is the BU dive bar, Barcelona Wine Bar is in Brookline which is only about 10 minutes

Cambridge (I know you didn't mention this but...) Felipe's Taqueria

Near your hotel: Earls... I know it's a chain BFD people love it.

Breakfast - The Friendly Toast.

You should get a meal in the Northend... I don't have a recommendation so many great places.

If you are gonna get Mike's cannoli get them in Cambridge, the North End always has a line.

+1. Absolutely visit the North End.

Last time we went, once we decided on a restaurant and put our name on the list for a table, while we were waiting we went over to Mike's to pick up cannoli. Just as we got our box, the restaurant texted that the table was ready. Perfect timing.

Try the Friendly Toast for brunch. It's walking distance from Copley. No reservations but you can add yourself to the waitlist or just walk up since it's usually a pretty quick wait.

You know not everybody has Tatte near them. Also, truthfully in Boston the only places worth getting breakfast (not sure why) are Friend Toast and Tatte.

Sometimes you are in a hurry and Tatte is the best option.

NP-you think they would serve my HS kid if they're with me? I want them to get the whole experience.

They will serve them wings.

Even though it’s not that close, go to Elephant Walk for something delicious and different. Reserve in advance. Thank me later!

Agree. Absolutely go to the North End for Italian. Just pick one. So many good choices.

+1

Eataly outlets have several different areas to eat, really like mini-restaurants within the larger store. So depending on whether you want fancy pasta and entrees, pizza, sandwiches, coffee & pastries, etc, you can usually find a spot that fits the bill.

It’s been a few years since I’ve been to the one in Boston, but they probably have gelato, too.

(Although, admittedly, if you want Italian you should really go to the North End. This is just to offer an easy option after a long day.)

I also referenced the North End upthread (though I had a brain glitch and called it Little Italy.)

But what is funny is that suggestion is almost as bad from a "touristy place" perspective at Legal and Dunkin. There absolutely are great places in the North End, but the spots on Hanover or Salem are complete tourist traps. Still worth going to for the experience and good food, but nothing special or secret.

And when I did the Boston college tour with my kid and a friend, we absolutely stopped at Tatte. They wanted to, so we did. There are things that teens like and no reason not to do them.

Dunkin, Legal Seafood, North End bakeries, Toscaninis, dim sum in Chinatown, Quincy Marketplace.
