This. And visit close by Homassasa Springs. |
Similarly, I wouldn’t travel to MD or VA. Slave states. |
|
The whole darn state is weird. Just head down there, lol.
At any rate -- I think there is a Dinosaur World theme park in FL. |

The sponge boat out of Tarpon Springs. There are a lot of dolphin boats that also leave out of Tarpon Springs, but make sure you find a sponge boat. It's a bit hit or miss if a sponge diver will be on board and actually put on all the gear, but it's still fun and a slice of old Florida even if there's no diver.
Tarpon Springs is so very touristy, but worth it. |
| Airboat ride and Gatorland will not disappoint! Any scheduled launches on the Space Coast during your trip? |
|
Weeki Watchee for the mermaid show is a can't miss.
Gatorland is a must see. In Central FL (more old FL than wild and weird): Mt Dora is a cool artists community, paddle boats on Lake Eola in Orlando, tons of great Cuban food, Winter Park scenic boat tours at that place on Morse Ave, see Cypress trees/knees at Azalea Gardens or Mead Gardens in Winter Park, Beefy King in Orlando or Kappy's in Maitland for an old school dive sandwich place. Not sure if T.G.Lee Dairy still does tours. The Winter Park Library is one of the coolest examples of MCM architecture. The Milk District in Orlando is funky with some off the beaten path shops and restaurants. St. Augustine tours - very interesting history and architecture. Some pirate themed stuff. Key West for some weird stuff on Duval St at sunset. Daytona Speedway for watching races. It was very weird to me at least
Kennedy Space Center is great. Ron Jon Surf Shop in Cocoa Beach. Have fun!!! |

Find a restaurant that serves alligator (it tastes like chicken). I had it at a nicer restaurant in Tampa. Can’t remember the nam; it was many years ago.
If you’re ever in Austin, check out the Museum of the Weird! |
Second this. This is the best activity in Florida. You can rent your tubes in Ft White and staff will tie the to the top of your car. This is a must do. |
|
Tour Florida Southern College in Lakeland Florida.
It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. |
You sound so mature! |
|
Go see the manatees at Blue Springs.
Get an airboat ride on the St. John's river and see lots of alligators up close and personal. (This is near Cocoa Beach which also has NASA) |
