I wish SSFS would too. |
I like this school more everyday! |
| Georgetown Prep also changed their policy this year. No cell phones in classes or during lunch. I'm very happy with this policy as a parent. |
| Really dumb question - did an open house yesterday at a school and phones were banned bell to bell (LOVE it!) - do they also include smart watches? Our k-8 does not and kids are texting during class - I see it going off on my kids devices at home |
This is exactly the same for PVI. |
You do what you always did before phones. Call the school. |

My kid is at a K-8 in moco. I know you said HS. They have a cell phone ban though. They have to stay in lockers. No use at lunch or recess.
I’m happy with it. If they’re caught with one it goes to office and parent has to pick it up. |

Starting a list. Feel free to add to it.
High schools that ban cell phone use bell to bell: Visitation Georgetown Prep St. Anselms DeMatha AHC Bishop Ireton PVI Holton Stone Ridge High schools that allow cell phones at some point during the day: Gonzaga SSFS |
I’m the BI poster. I was talking about the kids not getting the message from the SCHOOL about sports transportation plans changing (e.g bus was supposed to leave at 1:30 and now it’s 2:15) or when the kids want to stay after and there’s no way to let the parents know mid-day. |
| Edmund Burke has pretty much banned them for the most part and will be transitioning to a more formal policy with locked phone pouches starting in December. |
| I teach at a private school and it’s very easy to get sports announcements and game times out there. They announce it at lunch, they email the kids and the teachers so teachers can announce it to their students if they are in class at that time. Then words gets around peer to peer. Worst case scenario the coach calls the classroom where the kid is and they run down to the bus. No need for phones for that. |
It sounds like your school already has non-digital systems in place for that and that’s great. For the schools who up until this year allowed phones at some point during the day, and still use only text, email, and the student portal to disseminate information, it’s more challenging. I’m not advocating for phones, I’m saying that this was a fast change for the schools and some of them have not developed non-digital workarounds yet, which is a downside. |

Bullis has a ban from 8 to 3. |
