What do you guys think of Christian Socialism?

Many would like religion to be replaced by government. That's why they attack religion.

I didn't know there were any Milbank aficionados on DCUM!

I think your theories have merit, OP. Whether they're implemented in a way that makes social and economic sense is quite another kettle of fish.

Socialists will always lead us into extremism.

So are the conservatives.

I’ve become very influenced by the thought of John Milbank politically. Milbank is a serious thinker who seems to understand the many problems( social and economic) caused by global Capitalism and Mass culture

Bernie Sandwrs seems to have achieved some level of success as a Socialist here in America. Why not a socially conservative Christian Socialist who ran as a Republican? Part of me thinks GOP voters are just too narrow minded to even give such a candidate consideration.

Two books by Milbank I highly recommend are “The Politics of Virtue” and “Radical Orthodoxy” Catherine Pickstock contributed to the second book of course and she’s a brilliant thinker as well

As a devout Christian, I believe that Christian socialism has a lot more biblical justification that modern day Republican positions that sanctimoniously strip away social safety nets for many people who are poor, sick, female immigrants, and/ or disabled.

It's not really an oxymoron but we need to never join religion to government.
