PSA: Please consider getting coffee in a reusable cup

Anonymous
I have all of my coffee at home in a reusable cup for a fraction of the cost. And it sits nicely in the cup holder in my car. OK, it might not be a triple macchiato decaf latte with soy milk but I’m fine with that.

I make my coffee at.home, but every Starbucks will fill up your tumbler. They charge you .10 less for bringing your own cup and give you 25 extra rewards points.

I am baffled by the people brazenly asserting that Starbucks doesn't do this. They literally charge you less and give you rewards points to encourage it. Many coffee shops used to do this. They stopped during COVID (understandably). Now many places in the DC area at least have brought it back.

I don’t understand the people saying reusable cups are gross. If you that is gross, you really should never eat out at all. Nor should you ever eat cereal, chocolate, or other prepackaged foods (rat hairs and insect parts are in them).

Better yet, stop buying coffee out period! It’s a huge waste of time and money.

In restaurants, we do not bring our dirty plates from home and ask the restaurant to take them to the back and put our food on them. Hope you now understand.

Where are you getting the "dirty" part? All your plates and mugs and tumblers you use at home are dirty? I mean, I guess that would explain why you'd want to eat and drink everything out of the house on disposables.

Better for your health, better for the planet. Just a simple change we can make on a daily basis to make things a little better!

Don’t tell me what to do.

OK I am stupid and illogical and do not know anything and need you to make the world make sense to me. Happy now? You are right. Tell me how to exist.

When I've brought a reusable cup to Starbucks, they ask me to keep the lid for hygiene reasons, and will rinse out the cup and fill it.

I stopped buying takeaway coffee, only drink that made in the house or office. I’ll get a matcha or a mocha or something at the weekend (in a mug).

DP, but you are encountering more germs by opening the door to the coffee shop than you ever would from a barista touching someone else’s cup. Seriously.

I don't make individual sacrifices on behalf of a nebulous concept called "the environment". "The environment" singnals tyranny. Anyone can order anyone to do anything and if they add "for the environment", we are socially pressured to follow. No, not me.

I don't follow commands of internet strangers.

Logically, we should ban all restaurants and bars.
