| Better players are generally in the middle of the field as they generally the spine of the team. |
| It depends on so many factors. On our team our best players were put on defense and the worst was up at striker. The rationale was we'd stop other teams from scoring and someone, eventually, would get a goal. |
Just like every sport geniuses these are all games |
Oh man, a total newb.... |
| So funny people are answering without there being any criteria listed for what makes a player best |
Same. As others have said, once they are older and position specialists, best players could be anywhere. We did have one team that put a better player at striker early, but that player, although good, was lazy and only motivated by scoring goals. The player was terrible at defense and midfield by choice, but clearly a talented player. |
We do this too! Our best hope is to keep game super low to no scoring . . . and maybe score a random goal here or there. |
A lot of clubs do this and we end up with very few strong strikers. Echoing the others, its the central roles where they can most impact play. |
100%. Worst players are up front in the youngest ages for the most part and stronger in the middle or back. Older ages? There are good players at every position on good teams. If your team only has 2 strong players it's not a good team. Great players can effectively play EVERYWHERE. |
| Better players are usually in the middle because it requires a longer list of skills to operate efficiently in the middle of the crowd with action happening 360 degrees |
Yep if your best player is a fullback or goalie you do not have a good team. |
| The 10 of course, followed closely by the 6 (far more unappreciated). |
Nope. The 8 Box to box Best of a 10 and best of a 6 combined. |

The best player on our team was #10 (CAM). She was an ambidextrous playmaker. When she tore her ACL, the team was completely disorganized and in bad shape for the remainder of the season.
Yes, one player shouldn’t make this much of a difference. But if other players can’t properly play at CAM, then it’s problematic. You can say the same thing about a shutdown Center Back. |
Keeper is definitely the most important position in soccer once you are playing with full size goals! |
