I want to see every assignment and comments/grades. You are a lazy parent.

Easy solution there - don't look at all the assignments. You have to click through to see them.

What happened if you have feedback about ParentVue? Anyone know?

I have a 25 year history in working with web applications. The first problem with ParentVue is that administrators do not require teachers to input data regularly or consistently.

Until that is fixed the application will remain unusable no matter what.

Or until administrators understand themselves what they are even asking. Really some do not understand it.

I agree with this. It is normal as part of large software contracts that detailed and extensive training be provided by the software developer, including post - purchase support. Whoever is in charge of this contract has done a lousy job of making sure this has happened *and has been effective.*

Well I agree that's a problem but some teachers do not want to deal with Synergy because it's so badly implemented by MCPS. They have to manually sync and sometimes thta sync doesn't work so it takes up a lot of their time waiting for it to work or troubleshooting. I do think teachers need to be more on top of their grades but we could help them do that by fixing the tech issues which should be easily doable. Every online company manages to have a simple functioning system. Why can't MCPS?

Btw, they should have a way of letting teachesr enter AT v PP in Canvas. It stinks they can't do that by default and have to use shorthand in the titles. It's confusing for the students, parents and teachers. Get your act together MCPS!

Teachers would love to be on top of grades. But it would be much easier to focus on grading and planning if administrators along with MCPS Central didn’t constantly give us 50 other things that need to be done. And some teachers have 50-70 kids total while others have 150-170 kids total. Big classes of 30+ kids make it very challenging to keep up with grading. And if you teach a hard subject like upper level math or science, lunch breaks and planning periods are taken up by providing kids extra support and tutoring. There is no time for grading

I'm the pp you are responding to. You have identified the more meaningful problem with ParentVue which is not what Parents think of it but what teachers think of it, as they are the primary end user.

DP. I would say teachers are the primary end users of Synergy, but parents are the primary end users of ParentVue. Both perspectives are meaningful.

Really?

When I was young, in the 80s, every single paper would go home in a folder and my mom would look through my backpack every night. So it’s the same thing just digital now.

😂🤣 Folks thinking that every online company has a simple functioning system is HILARIOUS. If folks only knew how many applications, systems, and people it takes to keep many organizations running smoothly.

Why do you think so many want to move to the cloud? It’s so they can get out of operating their system. And have you been part of a project to migrate them to a new system. It’s a huge challenge because old systems are not necessarily engineered to work with new technology so things have to be changed, decided, and users have to be given training and time to adapt.

IT staff in private industry get paid higher salaries because they are on-call every other weekend and get reamed everytime someone’s system goes down unexpectedly or doesn’t meet agreed upon service level.

EdTech is still a relatively newer technology space.

Teachers/Students are the primary users of Canvas, Central Office is the primary user of Synergy, and parents are the primary users of ParentVue.
