Has anyone successfully achieved Private Placement from FCPS?

FCPS will rarely place kids at Lab. Very rarely. A school board member had a kid placed at Ivymount but that's the only kid I have ever heard of getting a spot there from FCPS.

They do not have contracts with Oakwood, Sienna, Commonwealth, Newton.
Almost all of the private placement schools are for kids with severe behavioral issues and emotional disabilities.

They have contracts with schools like these, however they will not place kids at schools that do seclusion (so Phillips Annandale no longer takes FCPS kids, but the other Phillips campuses do apparently)

Outside of Virginia, they will send kids to Frost in Md (might be a different name now) and KTS and High Road.

We see the FCPS public transportation at Oakwood so there's at least one kid there.

I know of a FCPS student placed at Rivermont. But I believe she was violent towards her teachers and other students.

Rivermont schools used to be CARD schools, who were bought out by the VC company that runs Rivermont. A big trend in education is VC consortiums buying private special ed schools because they want to monetize the guaranteed funding from the school districts as guaranteed profit (and provide as little as possible to the students of course).

I believe Auburn was also bought out by a private for-profit.

This is the place that bought out Auburn School in Chantilly.
Note that the founder is an investment banker.

I’ve got a kid in a pp from another county at a school mentioned on this thread and while it’s not perfect it’s also not grim. Look around, Op.

Not really "successfully" because we never found a school that worked but my child had private placement on IEP from FCPS for a long time. There are very few schools and most are awful.

I know one FCPS kid with behavior issues was placed in a school in Massachusetts.

We happened to run into the kid’s parents at a hotel breakfast.
