Boy haters

However my SIL who has never really liked him-yes his mother-said “He is only going there for the pot culture like all guys do.”

She acts like her son is awful, dumb and apparently a pot head -which he isn’t.

I did say “you know girls like pot too.”

And she said “after a boy introduces it to them.”

How do you know he's not a pot head? I've been trying to have/help my son, who is in College, quit marijuana for years. He started when he was 16 hanging around the "cool" crowd. It broke my heart to see him stoned and wasting his life away. With my help, and tutors, he managed to get good grades and therefore was able to go to College.

I don't tell anyone of the "issues" we had in his teen years but he was awful and a pot head for a long time. I don't if he's still on that path, but he's an adult and keep up with his grades - and that's all it matters now.

Not sure your SIL is a "boy hater" but you don't really know what she has gone through with her son...

This. It's nice that you are excited for him, OP. But it's presumptuous to assume that you are more informed than his own mother. She may have good reasons for being concerned about his decision.

Juvenile has more syllables than teenage. It's intelligenter.

He sounds like a loser. Hopefully her problem will fix itself.

I refuse to believe that mothers of boys can be “boy haters”. Of course there are less than excellent mothers. But you cannot raise a young man and “hate boys” any more than you can raise a young woman and “hate girls”. My son is 6-2 and towers over me. He is driving now. I still see the 7 year old and all of his sweetness. Even when the teen is driving me insane. Your SIL may be worried about her kid. She may be joking around with him (in an unhealthy way). She may be all kinds of things. But she doesn’t “hate boys”.

Funny and true.

Just let her vent about the aimless pot head. Dont egg him on and undermine the parent

You think you love him more than his mother? Is she a patient of mental illness or are you?

Glad he’s moving there in time for winter to kick his butt in.

+1
She seems really judgemental and overbearing. I'd wager she's upset he's moving so far away because it's going to be more difficult to manipulate him and exert her will upon him.

Does this nephew even have a job or a plan? Is this a gap year or is this a Failure To Launch move to a new city and do nothing? Maybe work in a hemp shop.
