Hallmark movies became my go-to thing to have on to fall asleep to when I was going through an extremely stressful time of life years ago. They're perfect because they're engaging enough to keep your mind from spiralling on your own problems, but not so engaging (and no loud noises) that they will keep you awake. Also, you always know that the ending will be happy - nothing depressing. I mentioned it to a friend back then, and now we both do it in times of stress /having difficulty sleeping.
