What is the science behind this pretty expensive expenditure? Are there peer reviewed articles showing its efficacy?

My DC has both ASD and ADHD and we used to go to dev ped and even genetics for years - and I realize now it was a terrible waste of time and money. They never offered this. My kid is 12 now. I would love to get this done. Does insurance cover it?

OP here….The panel was done by IntellXX DNA, provider was Pappas Health and GW. We do not have to buy “expensive” supplements from them. They just send you the info/dosage. I believe there are four providers in the DC area that do this type of testing. Insurance does not cover it, but we used our flex account for reimbursement.

dosage of what? this sounds very woo. GW also promoted a lot of crap like reiki.

ffs OP. No. 2k will pay for a lot of tutoring for my kid that will actually produce actual learning.

The one thing that our psychiatrist recommended testing for was the MTHFR gene. Specifically, my child and I both are “homozygous for the T allele of the C677T polymorphism in the MTHFR gene.“ Since adding a folate (NOT folic acid) supplement, we have seen modest improvement in his sleep and depressive symptoms he had developed in adolescence.

We had this too. But so do a third (more?) of all Caucasians, if I recall correctly.
